Mahdi Fleifel

Mahdi Fleifel is a Danish-Palestinian filmmaker who was raised in the Ain El-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon and later in Denmark. He is a graduate of the National Film and Television School of London. He was featured in the 30th anniversary Miami Film Festival’s “Four World Directors To Watch” program with his first feature-length documentary, A World Not Ours (12), a film that won over 25 international film prizes. All three of his subsequent short films have played at Miami Film Festival: “Xenos” (14), “A Man Returned” (16) and “A Drowning Man” (18). “A Man Returned” won Best Short at Berlin Film Festival, and “A Drowning Man” competed for the Palme d’Or Short Award at 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
